World Premiere recording of Leiden's famous Hagerbeer Organ built in 1643.
This newly restored instrument is the only existing organ in the world that has been returned to the tonal and musical concepts of Sweelinck's time. These sounds are now made available for the very first time to the general public through this disc.
Under Sweelinck's tutelage, the Dutch organ school of the 17th century was highly cosmopolitan in nature. Our program was chosen to provide the listener insights into the international musical interactions with his personal style. The accompanying ans extensive booklet of 65 pages in English, Dutch, French and German provides highly detailed background information about the organ as well as the surrounding period.
